The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
Scheduled to be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the FIFA World Cup 2022 is expected to be unique as it will be the first time a Middle Eastern country will host the FIFA World Cup 2022.

It will also be the second FIFA World Cup to be held in Asia. The 2002 World Cup was hosted by Japan and South Korea. A total of eight stadiums across five different Qatari cities will host 32 teams and 64 matches in the 2022 World Cup.
The selected venues for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar are the exhibition Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan in 974 Stadium and Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.
Apart from the Khalifa International Stadium which has been operational since 1976, other stadiums have been built in the last three years keeping the FIFA World Cup in mind. Khalifa Stadium will host the playoff for the third place.
The iconic Lusail Stadium has the highest capacity (80,000) of the eight stadiums. It will also be the busiest stadium of the lot, hosting a total of 10 matches, including the final and closing ceremony.
Al Bayt Stadium, which will host nine matches, will be the venue for the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup between hosts Qatar and Ecuador on November 20.

The next edition will be the first FIFA World Cup that will not be played between May and July due to the extreme heat in Qatar during the non-winter months. The stadiums have also been equipped with modern air conditioning equipment to manage the temperature of the stadium.
